11/10/2005 18:40:23 Derby withdraw from league
The Women's Blues will get off to a later start than planned this season, following the cancellation of their first match against Derby.

Unfortunately, this means you won't be able to see the Blues in action in a home game until Wednesday of 8th week, when they face the Tabs at Iffley Road.

According to the BUSA fixtures website, the Derby game has been provisionally rescheduled for the 18th of January next year, making it part of a run of five home games which form the second half of the regular season for the Blues this year.

LATEST: Derby have withdrawn from the league. These games are cancelled.

15/02/2005 22:31:03 Women's Blues defeat the Tabs
The Oxford Women's Blues team set out to Cambridge with only one acceptable outcome. On the coach over, the ladies psyched themselves up by watching a Michael Jordan DVD, and it seemed to have worked. Captain Becky Inkster hit 4 consecutive three pointers in the opening 5 minutes, and the game was immediately out of Cambridge's grasp. Coached by Men's Blues player Kenneth Townshend and Tony the Dark Blues held out at the half, with a commanding lead of 40-15. The defensive combination of Aoife Fitzgerald and Harriet Struthers was too much for Cambridge's weak ball handlers, and despite not having the greatest second half, the Blues maintained their lead and beat the Tabs by.

The Blues are now looking forward to ripping BUSA up in the Shield Competition starting tomorrow (16/02)

28/10/2004 14:58:15 Women's Blues back on track
After a disappointing performance the week before, the Women's Blues travelled to Loughborough to face their 2nds team. Due to transport difficulties, only 5 players could make the trip. Becky, Harriet, Sara, Steff, and Georgie went out to play hard defence, but in the end it was their shooting "prowess" and fast breaking that helped secure the win. Everyone was aware of the fact that conceding fouls was not an option, however, with two minutes to go, we were down to four players. This did not deter the girls, and they even extended their lead in the remaining minutes.
Everyone contributed to the win with Sara Lambert scoring a personal best of 34 points...no, wait, only 21. Georgie scored 21 points also, Harriet 19 (including a massive three pointer), and Becky and Steff scored 8 a piece. Someone, somewhere scored a free throw as well, leaving the score 78-58 to the Blues.

14/10/2004 01:29:18 Women's Blues set the trend
Under less than perfect circumstances, the Women's Blues team triumphed over a rather deflated Notts Trent team on Wednesday (13/10/04). With no coach, and having to re-adjust to the new smaller ball size, the Blues confidently took the game from the first quarter. Notts Trent were held to 14 points in the first half, and scored only six in the second. At the half, the Blues aimed to take their score to 86, and to hold the opposition to 25. The score ended 76-20.
As the game was well in hand, all players were able to rotate freely, and everyone contributed to the final score.

Players: Steff Simmons, Sara Lambert, Alison Squire, Harriet Struthers, Georgie Webb, Natascha Braumann, Natalya Dragicevic, Emilie Bentz, Veronika Korom, Angie Ng
