Age | 21 | Alison was a member of the Blues team that won the BUSA Shield and Varsity match in 2002-3, and is hoping for similar success this season. At school she was part of an unusually enthusiastic team, who reached All-Ireland tournaments at minor, junior and senior level, as well as the final of the National cup in their senior year. They also helped coach the minor team of '99, who went unbeaten that season, winning an All-Ireland Championship. Outside school they played for Dublin Raiders, winning U-16 and U-18 league titles, as well as inter-regional and international tournaments. At present, she is spending the final year of her Chemistry degree researching ion mobility spectrometery, with the aim of using it to detect trace compounds on breath. If successful, this could potentially be used to diagnose illnesses from diabetes to lung cancer. In her spare time, she is also trying to figure out what to do with her life.... |
