Age | 22 | From a small town in rural Mississippi, U.S., Kenneth Townsend was a four year varsity basketball player in high school and a three year starter. In his four high school seasons, his Kosciusko Whippets won twenty plus games each season, and his senior season the team advanced to the north-state finals before finally being put out by the defending state champions. While in high school, he was voted all-district three seasons, all-state honourable mention one season, and as a high school senior, Townsend was named the Randy Holloway award-winner for athletic excellence in his hometown. Although recruited to play by several small colleges, Kenneth decided not to play college basketball in the U.S. While focusing primarily on other things, Townsend still found the time for intramural sports, and for the last three seasons his team was the overall intramural points champion. While here in Oxford for the next couple of years, Kenneth will be pursuing an MPhil Politics: Political Theory. Townsend’s particular research interests involve multiculturalism, the role of religion in public life, and theories of consensus building. |
