Match Report for Men's Blues v Marjons on 27 October 2004

Home defeat 77-97

In a tough well-fought match against defending national champions Marjons, the Oxford Blues fell short 97-77. The game got off to an even start with Marjons slightly pulling ahead at the end of the first quarter. Peter Anderson led a Blues run with a monster jam on several of the Marjon players. However, the Marjons widened the lead to 19 at the half.

The lead shortened to below twenty in the second half, with sparks from various players including Christian Burckhardt, who contributed on the offensive and defensive ends. In the end, though, the Marjons would finish the game with a comfortable margin of victory.

Proudly, the Blues never quit during the match and had there been another quarter the outcome may have been very different. Fresher David Riley came on strong in the last minutes with several baskets. The Blues look to meet the Marjons later in the season with the same intensity they had this game and after playing together and practicing together a little more, the Blues may be a different team.
